Aero Football

The Challenge

As the official betting partner of Real Madrid, Codere wanted to generate exclusive, high-impact content for fans that would outshine the standard "skill challenges" found on YouTube. The ambition was to create a new, proprietary sport that put the world's most elite players to the ultimate test.

The Idea

We developed Air Football: the only sport played with a ball that never touches the floor. Merging the pace of a 2v2 football match with the physics of air hockey, we built a massive, air-powered field where a special puck levitated on a cushion of air. We invited 24 Real Madrid players to compete in a high-stakes, physical tournament that required extreme agility and reaction speed.

The Execution

As Art Director, I moved the project from an initial "indoor basketball" concept to a "modern industrial" aesthetic. We transformed an underground parking space into a neon-lit arena, creating a "theatre" for the shoot that felt both raw and premium. I designed the custom angular field to maximize puck bounce and integrated "glowing bumpers" in the goals that triggered technical sound effects and "Ultra Hit" score multipliers when hit in sequence.

The Result

The project was captured by a 9-camera setup and delivered a massive suite of assets, including 24 individual player intros, tournament highlight films, and teasers. The campaign successfully turned a sponsorship requirement into a definitive sports-culture moment, earning an FWA of the Day.

Behind the Scenes: Designing the Field

Designing the Air Football arena required engineering a new sport from scratch. We built a custom 6.5m x 4.2m angular field to eliminate "dead zones" and maximize puck speed. By integrating pressure-sensitive bumpers and LED feedback, we added an arcade-inspired "Ultra Hit" mechanic to the physical matches. We transformed a raw stadium parking garage into a high-tech, neon-lit arena that bridged the gap between industrial grit and a premium sports production.

Field:

  • Dimensions: 6.5m x 4.2m custom-built air-flow surface.

  • Surface: Precision-drilled polycarbonate with integrated LED feedback.

  • The Tech: Real-time impact sensors triggering the "Ultra Hit" mechanic.

  • The Vibe: High-contrast industrial neon.
